Curtin University Alumni Singapore (CUASC) AGM 2024


The Curtin University Alumni Singapore (CUASC) buzzed with energy on April 13, 2024, as alumni reconnected and celebrated their shared Curtin experience at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Presided over by Mr. James Chen, PBM, President of CUASC, the event showcased the organization's commitment to fostering a vibrant alumni network and exciting plans for the future.


Building Bridges, Strengthening Bonds Beyond

In his opening address, Mr. James Chen, PBM, President of CUASC, delivered a opening address that focus on building bridges and strengthen bonds. He emphasized the importance of fostering connections that extend beyond attending CUASC activities. Mr. Chen highlighted the enduring value of the friendships and professional networks formed during university years. He encouraged alumni to take a proactive approach in staying connected with fellow graduates. This could involve attending alumni events, reaching out to classmates on social media, or even organizing smaller gatherings within specific industries or interest groups.


By nurturing these connections, alumni can build a strong support system that can provide valuable advice, mentorship, and even career opportunities throughout their professional lives. Mr. Chen's speech set the tone for the evening, emphasizing the CUASC's commitment to fostering a vibrant and supportive alumni network that extends beyond organized events.


Mr Chen also made a special recognition to Exco Member Cliff Goh for generously sponsoring the venue and drinks, allowing attendees to relax and enjoy the evening's festivities. A huge thanks to Mr Matthew Loo and Ms Kemmy Clarissa Koh for their hardwork in organizing the AGM and ensuring a smooth and successful event.


Welcoming New Graduates and Celebrating Achievements

The AGM warmly welcomed a new generation of Curtin alumni – those who graduated last year and the recent February batch. This influx of fresh energy signifies the organization's continuous growth. The event also highlighted the achievements of the new CUASC committee, showcasing their dedication and innovative approach to engaging alumni.

The current committee has injected a breath of fresh air into the organization by implementing a more dynamic event calendar. This includes a variety of engaging activities designed to cater to a wider range of alumni interests. The AGM served as a platform to share plans for the year ahead, including:


  • Expanding the Membership Database: The committee emphasized the importance of a robust membership database to keep everyone connected and informed about upcoming events.

  • Light Refreshments, Lively Discussions: Following the formal proceedings, the evening transitioned into a social networking session with light refreshments and drinks. This relaxed atmosphere allowed attendees to reconnect with old friends, forge new connections, and share their experiences.

  • The Annual Christmas Get-Together: A festive gathering to celebrate the holiday season and reconnect with fellow alumni in a warm and joyous setting.

  • AAS Dinner: This annual event provides an opportunity to celebrate experiences and network with Australia alumni working in Singapore.

  • CUASC CNY Dinner: Ring in the Lunar New Year with fellow alumni and enjoy the celebratory spirit of this traditional event.

These events offer fantastic platforms for alumni to reconnect, forge new friendships, and stay informed about career opportunities.
